Gitora on a Docker Ubuntu server

#1

Hi,

I’ve installed Gitora on a Docker container running Ubuntu server 16.01 with this version of java:

$ java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_91"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_91-8u91-b14-0ubuntu4~16.04.1-b14)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.91-b14, mixed mode)

When accesing to the gitora url http://192.168.252.78:9001/gitora/main.html?name=Gitora I’ve got this CompileException:

Jun 21, 2016 8:40:35 PM org.apache.jasper.compiler.JDTCompiler$1 findType
SEVERE: Compilation error
org.eclipse.jdt.internal.compiler.classfmt.ClassFormatException
at org.eclipse.jdt.internal.compiler.classfmt.ClassFileReader.(ClassFileReader.java:342)

at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:206)
at co.gerger.filters.GZIPFilter.doFilter(GZIPFilter.java:48)
at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:235)

at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:745)

Any idea about what’s going wrong ?

Which packages needs Ubuntu to correctly run Gitora ?

Thanks,

Pere

Hi Pere,

OpenJDK might cause issues like this. Please try Oracle Java.

Kind Regards,
Serdar

#3

Thanks Serdar,

I’ve changed to Oracle JRE:

$ java -version
java version "1.8.0_91"
Java™ SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_91-b14)
Java HotSpot™ 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.91-b14, mixed mode)

And the error is still the same, something related to the GZIPFilter: co.gerger.filters.GZIPFilter.doFilter(GZIPFilter.java:48)

I’ll try again, but with a complete Ubuntu server installation, not a docker installation (with few packages).

Thank-you,

Pere

Hi Pere,

The issue is not related to Gitora. I investigated it and found out that apache tomcat 6 is not compatible with java 8. Please use oracle java 7 or 6 instead. This time the bug will go away.

Kind Regards
Serdar

#5

OK, thank-you !

Regards,

Pere

#6

Changing to Oracle java version 7 the installation on the Docker Ubuntu server succeeded  .

Thank-you for your support, regards

Pere
